Anatomical heart in a bell jar. I thought it would be nice to make little hearts in bell jars for decorative display.

I sculpt each heart entirely by hand (mostly using a butter knife that belonged to my grandmother). Bell jar and base are commercially produced. Bell jar is 3” tall by 2” wide, wooden base is 5/8” thick and 3 3/8” in diameter.

Each heart is made from borosilicate glass using a process called flameworking in which rods of clear and colored glass are heated and formed with a very hot (approximately 5000 degrees Fahrenheit) flame. Because this is a handmade item there will be some variations in shape, color, size, etc. (I’m not a robot!) but I try my best to make them match the photos in the listing as closely as possible.
